Rhapsody in Blue (Ozawa & Marcus Roberts Trio)

Thanks to the tip off from Clarence. Love this rendition of Rhapsody in Blue.

Some background reading while you listen to music:

I always wonder, where does classical music meet jazz – if classical music, in its pre-scored, pre-planned beauty each individual musician is not allows to give their individual surprises, while jazz musicians took the opposite extreme of only having small segments where audiences will recognize the piece, leaving the rest to imagination. This rendition straddles both worlds very well, blending the idea of cadenzas in traditional concertos, allowing the original music to blend in with drums/bass accompaniment, and no less based off a piece itself known for breaking new ground in getting orchestras to play jazz music.

George must be pleased.
