Five by Five Concert Videos

The recording was done by camera (Think it was a Lumix?) The video quality is too good, HD video of a rather still image catching all the unsightly stage habits (including appearing too much like log). But the audio quality is really bad, yet unfortunately also capturing the worst in our music, e.g. not holding the balance and intonation well especially in the classical pieces, and the lack of dynamics everywhere. The tone is compressed, leaving a flat tone almost computer like.

This is our first time we’re trying out the Play Den as a concert venue. The form factor is an issue, fortunately we were still able to squeeze in 10 people. However, what was but taken care of enough was the vanishing tuba and horn as their sounds are not reflected well by the hall to the audience (or at least to the camera). Must look for better recording devices next round.

I selected and embedded three videos here. The rest (like Marriage of Figaro and New World Symphony) can be found on weipeng’s account on youtube.
