New Theme (300) goes to Beta

As I prepare for 2008, this site also goes into preparation for a new theme  for year 2008. As I thought year 2008 will be a year of where much blood will be spilled for a just cause, I picked a theme that’s fancied after the 1998 comic strip by Frank Miller, 300, which incidentally got turn into a movie recently. Spartans rock!

As all downloaded themes, I always end up finding tremendous amount of customization needed to “suit my taste”, and cater to “my audience”, although both needs are rather illusive to me. Take “my audience” – I don’t really know who reads my blog, but I know when original theme is mixed with my content, it won’t fit a 1024×768 screen’s browser on maximized. In addition, I’ve had numerous feedback that it’s hard to read white words on a black background (especially on glossy screens), so I softened the colour and added a dash of red for those who still can’t read to activate.

And as for my “taste”, that has resulted in a rather interesting conversation:
“Don’t you want to design a site that you call your own?”
“No”
“Why not?”
“Because there are already so many designs out there where people have already drawn and is usable!”
“…”
“We shouldn’t be reinventing the wheel, right?”
Ya right, I’ve been regenerating all the widget codes thank to the non-backwards compatibility of the many features of the advertisers. The site seems slower for now, but soon I’ll be happy with the look and will start optimizing, something a designer hardly think about!

If you find any kinks, do leave a note here, and I’ll see what I can do. After all, I stare at the default wordpress admin theme more and less at the end result, but you, my reader, would have to bare the burden of staring at this hard to read screen, or quit and use the feed!
