460,000-Brick Lego Tower Breaks World Record

Via Gizmodo.

At 96.73 feet (29.485 meters) this Lego tower built in the Rathaus Platz in Vienna has broken the world record for the tallest Lego construction in the world.

See the wires?

I can’t imagine the amount of weight there’s to the bottom layers… i wonder if the cables are there only to prevent the structure from being blown sideways, or even “lift” it so that the total weight on the bottom layer is reduced. No good pictures of the fundamentals there.
