Watch liquid boil in low gravity

Here’s the short version. What happens when you boil liquid in space (zero gravity)? Hint, there’s no bouyancy and convection. On earth, gravity causes the heavy liquid to sink and the hot air to rise. Here are some images that would shed some light along with their respective video link:

How about what happens when the boiling stops? Think about the water surface tensions, then see this:

So all the boiled bubbles join together to form one big perfect bubble and just sit there. Class dismissed.

  1. when an astronaut wants to drink hot water, wonder how he/she does it in space with the boiled water bubble sitting there looking innocent…
