i-ACT 2006 – Stop Genocide Now

Stop Genecide Now Banner

An e-mail from Niny:

Dear friends – I just got back to California after spending some time back home in Malaysia and Indonesia. Had plenty of rest and see family. Fenny and I and Ami and Shari also had a wonderful side trip to Bali. It occured to me that these days the world is getting figuratively smaller – and every action we take (or not take), even every one of our consumption choices,  has implications that reverberate across the world.

So I just wanted to wish you all a very happy new year, and also wanted to send you the link to the second i-Act. Gabriel and Stacey are back in the Darfur refugee camps today on New Year’s Eve, and for 14 days they are sending video journals daily (as well as answering comments) on the following link: http://StopGenocideNow.org

This year more people have heard of iAct so we’ve had a few thousand unique visitors. But this morning when I checked google analytics for the geographical distribution of visitors, they are still mainly in the USA. It’d be great if more people from all around the globe manage to join them in their journey.

Here’s wishing you much joy and happiness in the upcoming year,

🙂

Hello my friends and familia,

I want to thank you personally for being a part of i-ACT these past days.  It’s been a grueling journey with little sleep, but receiving your comments in our blogs really tells us and the people we visit that we’re not alone.

I’m sure you’ve already told friends and family about i-ACT.  Because of your efforts, more have joined us this year – this means more people previously unaware of the genocide are now empowered with the knowledge to act.

But I want to ask one more favor: can you tell at least another 5 people about i-ACT?  Stacey and I will return to the U.S. in 3 days and before we go, we want to make sure that we find more people like you to join the movement while we’re still in the camps.  We want as many people as possible to experience this person-to-person communication that you’ve been involved in.  It’s really easy:

  1. Tell them 450,000 people have been killed and 2.5 million displaced in Darfur, Sudan
  2. Direct them to: http://StopGenocideNow.org
  3. Ask them to participate by clicking on any of the videos

If they say, “What does it matter?  I know all about Darfur and I’ve signed too many petitions.  I can’t do anything to stop this,” tell them they’re wrong!  They CAN stop this by getting MORE people to stop this!  Tell them their task is to find people who do NOT know about Darfur and mobilize them to action.

I’d love to hear about your experiences in getting the word out – so please share with everyone in any of our blogs.

This is about community and realizing that, together, we can make a difference.  Thank you for being such an integral part of this work.

Paz,
Gabriel

If you experience technical difficulties, email iact-info@StopGenocideNow.org .

I know you web-surfing buff probably won’t be as brave as the dudes over at Darfur right now, but I think awareness has its value and by you spending some of your time to see and learn from their videos, you have already contributed to the increasing movement against the genocide.

Check them out – you’ve got nothing to lose – http://StopGenecideNow.org
