Summary: You don’t have to know how to create film to come to FilmCamp this Sunday. All you need is a passion for films.

Films is one of the most sophisticated (and highest grossing) form of art / communication / media in the 21 century. Many people think making films involves big budget, sophisticated CG animation, ridiculously high salaried celebrities and the support and distribution of millions of cinemas. On the opposite extreme, many people shoot clips and make a fool of themselves on YouTube. FilmCamp is where these ideas will clash, where laymen like you and me get to peek into the film making industry, understand some of the motivations behind film making, see some rare films, and even get your hands dirty on some of the tips and tricks of making film.
The event has basically 4 tracks, put simply: Story, Score, Performance, Funding. This is aimed at bringing like-minded people together, providing ample focus without taking away the unconference style that is the hallmark of such barcamp-like events. The speakers are of notable quality, at least I think, you know, not being in the film making industry myself
Although it is not an unconference for filmmakers themselves, there are many amateur and semi-pro filmmakers (even from the region) that I know of who will be attending.

And here’s a film you have to full screen to watch (it’s HD from Vimeo, S’pore / M’sia readers please let it load first). Drawn (CG) by one person over a few years apparently – so cool…

He pretends that a lot of people read his blog, and is thus only partially frank in his writing. To get the full blown view often involves contacting him for coffee (he doesn't like alcohol).
