Good read whether you&#8217;re a laymen or otherwise. <\/p>\n<p>You can download the PDF version from the Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malaysianbar.org.my\/index.php?option=com_docman&#038;task=doc_details&#038;gid=639&#038;Itemid=120\" target=\"_blank\">The Malaysian Bar<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Highlights (i.e. those that I personally found interesting):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Police authority card: Red = Suspended Police Officer!<\/li>\n<li>112 Statement: When the police are investigating a case and think you have information \/ knowledge about the case, the police may examine you and take down your answers, i.e. the 112 Statement.<\/li>\n<li>When arrested, you may call a nearby <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malaysianbar.org.my\/legal_aid_centres.html\" target=\"_blank\">Legal Aid Centre<\/a> (LAC) for help.<\/li>\n<li>Magistrate: He\/She is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kehakiman.gov.my\/courts\/maljudiciary.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">judicial officer<\/a> who has the power to make a Remand Order to detain you for more than 24 hours. The Police Officer cannot do that (he can keep you for 24 hours only).<\/li>\n<li>1st Remand Order: 4 or 7 days. 2nd Remand Order 3 or 7 days.<\/li>\n<li>Body Search without arrest can only be done by Police Officer ranked Inspector and above! But he\/she can&#8217;t put hands into pocket even. With arrest, (almost) anything goes.<\/li>\n<li>And everyone&#8217;s favorite from American cop movies applies: <em>You have the right to remain silent<\/em>. You&#8217;re obliged to share your personal particulars, and the rest can be politely ignored.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please campaign safely this weekend!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>a.k.a.
